PROCAD License Types

Permanent Licenses

When you purchase any PROCAD product, you will receive permanent software license activation after payment is received. This means you can use the software until such time when you decide to upgrade it.

Temporary Licenses

Temporary licenses are issued to:

  1. Companies evaluating the software: when you select the EXPRESS software installation option, you’re automatically granted a 30-day free trial license.
  2. Customers upgrading older versions of the software: you will receive a 30-day temporary license to allow you to run both versions during software migration to the new version. Once this process is completed and payment is made, you will receive permanent software license activation.
  3. Customers on payment terms: when PROCAD receives your payment, you will receive permanent software license activation.

License Types: Standalone or Network Licenses

PROCAD offers its customers two types of software licenses: Standalone (Node Locked) or Network (Concurrent) licenses. We use the FlexNet® software to license the use of all our producs.

Standalone (Node Locked) Licenses

Standalone licenses allow users to install the software on a single machine without being connected to the company network structure.

A standalone license allows you to run a PROCAD product on a single workstation. This license is tied to the workstation’s hardware and cannot be moved or shared with other users. This license is most suitable for mobile computers or single user/workstation setup.

Network (Concurrent) Licenses
Network licenses provide a cost-effective way to share a fixed number of software licenses. Under this type of licensing arrangement, software can be installed on a number of computers, and the actual usage of an application is controlled by a license server that does not allow users to exceed the number of licenses acquired.

A license server keeps track of how many licenses are in use at one time. When an application using network licensing starts, it first checks to see if a network license is available to use. If so, a license is then checked out from the pool of licenses. When a user exits the application, or the license is idle for a period of time, the license gets checked back into the pool making it available to other users.

Network licensing simplifies software asset management since the licenses reside on a single license server instead of on each individual workstation. Another benefit of network licensing is software asset utilization. When you are not running your network licensed product, the network license is available to other user in your organization.

Users of network licensing must be connected to the company network.
