3D Modeler provides designers with a full set of intelligent modeling tools for plant design, skid design, and other specialized construction. 3D Modeler is fully integrated with the Project Manager, Specification Manager, Personal ISOGEN and BOM Generator applications.
Rules Based
With Rules Based Connectivity, 3DSMART ensures piping design accuracy while still enabling you to work quickly. When connecting components, the program will display colored cones at all the possible connection points in the model. Choose the cone at the desired connection point and 3D Modeler will automatically evaluates the applicable parameters to check that piping connection rules are being followed such as pipe size, line number match, pipe rating match and wall thickness match. Once the connectivity rules are satisfied, the new item is connected with precision to the existing component.
In cases where you do need to override the rules, the program will allow you but only after an alert is displayed to ensure you’re intentionally doing so.

The piping design module contains an extensive component library and automated tools that enable you to create 3D piping models quickly and easily. Some of the most noteworthy piping design features include:

2D Deliverables
From the 3D Modeler, you can generate 2D plans and section drawings easily where you can add dimensions and annotations. These drawings are created by using a wizard, which will guide you to select the limits and area of the model to be represented in the 2D plan or section drawing.
You can also easily generate isometric drawings automatically from the 3D model with the included Personal ISOGEN. These fully dimensioned and annotated drawings simplify the fabrication of piping spools ready for erection on the job site.
Structural Steel Component
The Structural Steel component of 3D Modeler provides all the necessary tools to model steel structures. The user-friendly interface lets you insert and edit steel components quickly and easily. Features of this multifaceted module include:
- Standard steel shapes
- Coping, mitering and hole drilling
- BOM generation
- Automated generation of plans and sections
- Ability to stretch or break steel members and other linear components
- Ability to delete holes and coping of existing steel members
Portability
The program also features built-in data control: you can send your drawing files (models) to your customers who can view and/or edit them in AutoCAD®. When these files are returned to you, 3DSMART will automatically conduct an audit to compare the data in the drawing file with the database. If there has been a change in the drawing you got back from your customer, the program will alert you and give you the option to synchronize your data by either adding the changes made in the drawing file by your customer to the database, or to discard them and bring the drawing back to its original state when it was sent to your customer.
